Silverstone Findings

Here is this weeks findings for Silverstone. All in all another successful race with only a couple minor incidents detailed below. Thank you to all those who took part and thank you to Deano and Robbo for joining myself on the stewards panel.
Fin / James L
After reviewing the footage from James L (on board with Aydan) we have come to the following conclusion:
Penalties:
Warning for pushing James off track
5 second penalty for not giving position back
Reasoning:
Fin goes deep into T1 carrying too much speed. As a majority we did not believe it was intentional but a misjudgement of the conditions and higher fuel could also have been a factor. Importantly, we believe that the damage sustained to James was not suffered in this part of the incident, but as James tries to return to track later on. However, we do believe that as Fin braked late into T1, he was able to gain a position on Aydan and then consequently James as he pushed him off track.
Based on the factors of conditions, it is his first racing incident and did not directly cause damage to James, a minor incident and a warning on this occasion is sufficient. For failing to give back the positions he had gained on James and Aydan, we have given a 5 second penalty. We opted against a 10 second penalty as it is hard to give placed back on first laps when potentially your unaware who you’ve gained an advantage against.
Incident 2: James L
James did not finish the race deliberately.
Penalty:
Warning for deliberate DNF
Reasoning:
James did not finish the race this week and whilst we do have sympathy that he has had incidents at the start of the race through no fault of his own, we expect people to finish races. You can incur up to 3 points on your license for deliberately taking yourself out of races, but we want to give James and everyone in the league the opportunity to prove that this will not happen again.
That concludes the Silverstone findings. There will be a post shortly with some proposals to change the penalty system. If it is passed, we will then move forward with the proposals for Monza. Thanks for everyone’s time.
